Edinburgh USA
Our own little pat of Scotland...here in the Twin Cities?
It’s been over 10 years since Edinburgh USA brought me in to photograph the course following a renovation by the renowned Robert Trent James II, who originally designed the course back in 1987.
Located in—and operated by—the City of Brooklyn Park, this public course has hosted multiple major events, including seven LPGA Tour events and the USGA Public Links Championship.
An impressive Scottish-style castle clubhouse welcomes you on arrival. The practice facilities are excellent as well, including a short-shot bunker area tucked back between the 10th hole and the maintenance building (which, somehow, I didn’t even realize existed for a couple years after my first visits).
I’d describe the course as links-inspired, with plenty of water and tree-lined fairways. The fairways are generous enough that the trees shouldn’t come into play—but more often than not, they do.
One of my favorite views on the course is the par-5 15th (the third photo here), which really highlights the dramatic fairway contouring as the sun starts to set.
